Originally hailing from the St. Louis area, Jan was always drawn to Rhythm and Blues, and later Jazz. Favorite artists include Ray Charles, Etta James, Nina Simone and Bonnie Raitt.

Jan has been performing in public for only about 10 years, but anyone who’s seen “Platinum Jan” perform “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets” decked in sequins and feather boa and heading into an audience of hundreds would have a hard time believing that this woman had ever been called shy.

Jan’s performances in San Diego include solo and trio acts at corporate parties, and her work as a Karaoke Host at various venues around town, including Islands Saloon in Coronado. She honed her skills at various singing contests where she won or placed, including First Place in the San Diego County Talent Quest contest. Although she was invited to join several bands in San Diego, she declined, as the music was never quite right. She has definitely found the right music and the right players in King Biscuit Revue.
